Your treatment options will depend on whether the cancer is
contained within the prostate gland (localised), has spread just
outside of the prostate (locally advanced) or has spread
to other parts of the body (advanced).
There is no overall 'best treatment' and each treatment has its
own advantages and disadvantages. You may find it helpful to get
support, information and advice before choosing a treatment.
It is up to you how much you want to be involved in choosing
your treatment and your specialist team can help guide you through
the different options you may have. You can also call our
confidential Helpline to speak to
a specialist nurse.
Your doctor or specialist nurse should talk to you about all
treatment options even if some of those options are not available
at your local hospital.
You can discuss the treatments with your partner or family and
bring them along to your appointments. It can be hard to take
everything in, so it may be useful to have a friend or relative
with you who can also listen or make notes for you.
