Advanced prostate cancer is cancer that has spread outside the
prostate to other parts of the body. It is also called metastatic
prostate cancer. Advanced cancer may cause
pain. It is not curable but treatment can keep it under control for
many months and sometimes years.
Prostate cancer can spread to any part of the body, but most
commonly to the bones and lymph nodes. This page focuses on pain
caused by prostate cancer spreading to the bones. For information
on other causes of pain speak to your specialist team or call our
confidential Helpline.
Not all men with advanced prostate cancer will have pain. Some
men will have no pain at all and others will have varying amounts
of pain. With the right treatment, pain can usually be relieved or
significantly reduced.
